Tradition dictated that we start the book with a set of introductory articles, reflecting different facets of the industry; we have stuck to doing so. That said, this book has a differentiating feature, which is a new section, called ‘Consultants You Ought to Know’. As the name suggests, it contains profiles of consultants in the HVACR industry in the region.

The list is not exhaustive, though. The consultants profiled here were the ones that responded to our invitation to participate in the section. It is our fond hope that the next edition will carry profiles of all the consultants in the region – and who knows, that might prove to be a trigger to print the compilation as a separate book!

As always, the core elements of this book are the productwise and company-wise listings. We paid a lot of attention to the two sections and endeavoured to be as inclusive as possible and to ensure accuracy in representing all the companies that sent in their entries. If, despite our efforts, there are omissions, we ask you to bring them to our notice, so that we may include them in the next edition. Working on this book, this time around, involved a different challenge. Even in the best of times, one of the challenges in producing a directory is that people keep moving from one assignment to another. In the downturn, the movement has been that much more pronounced; so much has changed since the time of the second edition – quite a few people that we contacted, a year ago, have moved on. That way, this book is like a barometer of the tremendous change the region has experienced.

We have stuck to tradition, though. As always, this book opens with articles that reflect the industry. They are related to all the key disciplines – cooling, refrigeration and ventilation.

The next section is the product category-wise listing, which is followed by the company-wise listing.

While this edition may appear similar to the previous edition, which incidentally received an overwhelming response, it is quite a ramp-up. For one, it contains several new products and services categories. For another, it contains a new section, called Market-Watch, which is substantial in nature and attempts to explain the market for some key HVACR components.
